PolyClay Emporium Frequently Asked Questions!

Welcome to the FAQ page for our polymer clay jewelry and color mixing tutorials website! We are here to answer any questions you have!

Q: How do I care for my polymer clay jewelry?

A: Polymer clay is a durable material but it can still break if dropped or mishandled. To keep your jewelry looking its best, avoid wearing it in water or exposing it to extreme temperatures. To clean your jewelry, gently wipe it with a soft, damp cloth.

Q: I have a different brand of polymer clay, can I still use the color mixing recipes on your website?

A: Yes, you can still use our color mixing recipes with a different brand of polymer clay. Choose the colors for mixing that are closest to the Sculpey Souffle or Premo colors in our recipes.  Since the colors you start with won’t be exactly the same, the mixed color may be slightly different from what’s pictured in our tutorials. We recommend starting with relatively small amounts of clay to testing the colors before making larger batches.

Q: Do I need a pasta machine to mix the colors?

A: While a pasta machine can make color-mixing easier and more efficient, it is not necessary. You can mix the colors by hand, using your fingers to blend the clay until it reaches it’s thoroughly blended.

Q: My color doesn’t look like the picture. What should I do?

A: Please carefully review the amounts of color you used and remix the clay. If it still doesn’t look right to you, please contact us and we’ll troubleshoot the issue together. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase and enjoy the color-mixing process!
