On a cold winter day in January, 1936, at the Pittsburgh China & Glass Show,  everyone was agog over the new china line from the Homer Laughlin China Company.  Fiesta Ware’s bright colors and simple bold design attracted tons of attention amid the other manufacturers’ traditional more neutral colors and classic designs.   These dishes were marketed especially for the housewife.  In the midst of the depression, setting a bright table provided some cheer.  Most china in the 1930’s was sold in ‘place settings’ or ‘sets’.  Fiesta made every piece individually purchasable, and encouraged creative table setting.  Copy for an early ad...

Hi, I’m Lu and I’m a crafter.  I love jewelry - Pieces that are beautiful, inexpensive,  have signature impact but are easy and comfortable to wear.  Fine jewelry of precious metals and gems can be breath-takingly beautiful- but wearing something very expensive makes me uneasy.
